Client Context
The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film festivals and cultural organizations, requiring significant seasonal workforce expansion each year ahead of its annual festival.
Challenge
In preparation for the festival season, the organization required an experienced HR leader who could step into a senior role quickly to strengthen HR operations and support large-scale seasonal recruitment and workforce coordination.
HRA’s Role
HR Associates sourced a Senior HR Manager for a four-month interim assignment with strong experience in the non-profit environment.
The consultant assumed responsibility for key HR functions including recruitment operations, HR program delivery, and management support while leading a small HR team during a critical operational period.
The role also supported several HR initiatives including the implementation of HR policies, development of health and wellbeing initiatives, oversight of management development activities, and monitoring the rollout of performance management processes.
Impact
The interim leadership ensured HR operations were prepared to support the large seasonal workforce required for the festival. Following the successful assignment, the consultant was later hired permanently by the organization.
